Happyfic recommendations

I like soul-rending angst as much as the next chick, but sometimes I'd rather read about people being kind, or good, or hilarious. I asked around for stories that are happier than usual, or funnier than usual, and also well written. Thanks to everyone who recommended stories! I appreciate it, and you, more than I can say.

I'll be delighted if you suggest happyfic for the next update. Het, gen, slash, I'm not picky about categories. Or fandoms.

Many (but not all) of these stories portray sexual relationships between men, some in graphic detail. If you cannot legally read such stories, do not click on the links. Non-slash stories are marked as such.

I have not read every one of these stories. In the cases where I haven't read them, I trust the people who recommended them.

Um. Many of these stories are schmoopy. Don't say I didn't warn you.

LotR. MJ has written any number of happy, Hobbity stories. For one among the many, take a look at: At the Sign Of the Dancing Maiden and for something slightly different: The Birds and the Beasts. An odd thing, but then love among the Istari would be odd, wouldn't it?

Beowulf Meets Godsylla by Tom Weller. Gen Beowulf.
Not schmoopy in the least! "Hwæt ðe helle?"

Storm Shelter by Maygra. Magnificent 7.
A long setup, but very comforting in a hot-boy-sex way.

Frodo Lives! The Ancestors of Frodo Baggins. Gen LotR. More than gen, really. It's all canon.
A calm -- and funny, if you have that sort of sense of humor -- place to delve into Hobbit geneaology.

Fearing Greenland by Debchan. Princess Bride.
Please, anyone, write me more Princess Bride fic!
Debchan also wrote "Let It Snow" (Smallville), That Colloquy Series (That 70s Show) and Glee Club (Futurama).

Merry Lynne's Smallville stories: "The Road Home," "The Middle of Nowhere," and "Ice".

Animus by The Spike. Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Duckman. No, *really*.
The Spike is also responsible for Lime Crush Has No Inherent Meaning (Buffy) and What You Want (SV).

The Scientific Method by Sarah T. Smallville.

Territorial Imperative by Bone. Sentinel.

Viridian and LaT wrote "Discipline". Andromeda. "Sweet and fun." For a spanking fic. (If you have trouble finding it, try http://viridian.mrks.org/an_discipline.htm.)
